Cover Girl Culture

Very few messages are delivered to teen girls  that encourage them to think about how they are being manipulated by the media. They are swamped by mass-media hype. Somewhere girls must wonder if they can ever measure up to the glossy images. Some girls cope with self-esteem issues, depression, body-image disorders and bulimia. Advertisers aren’t going to change their angle of attack, so it will be up to us to offer resistance.

A former cover girl and now filmmaker, Nicole Clark, has created a documentary to expose how deceptive the fashion industry is. The film exposes media’s harmful influences. If you are looking for a way to talk to a teen girl about media manipulation, consider watching Cover Girl Culture. It exposes the truth and maybe it will open the eyes of those the media would prefer to be blind.
